"There's no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one"

-Jill Churchill

Postpartum depression counselor in Englewood

Parenthood is the scariest hood you’ll ever go through. From the moment the test comes back positive, your life is changed. Often that change is accompanied by intense feelings. Children can bring you the most joy but they can also bring the most heartache.  Feelings of anxiety and depression may be more common than you think. Research says that about 80% of new mothers experience normal “baby blues” in the first few weeks after baby arrives and at least 1 in 7 mothers experience serious depression or anxiety during pregnancy or postpartum.  That’s a lot of women who are struggling with motherhood - yet these moms don't always know where to turn.

I can help!

I understand that the adjustment to parenthood isn’t always as picture perfect as we imagined it would be.  You know all those newborn pictures in your Facebook feed, with baby snuggling mom who  has her hair & make-up perfectly done?  That's not the reality of motherhood. Most moms I know tell me that the day of the photoshoot was the first day they did their hair & make-up since baby was born.  But we don’t post those pictures.   I like to talk about the real side of parenthood and the hard feelings that may come with these new challenges.

As an experienced and licensed therapist,

I can help you adjust to your new life and fully embrace this new role as mother.  Whether you are struggling through your pregnancy, dealing with the “normal crazy” of having a new baby, or have postpartum depression or anxiety I can help you calm the chaos and actually start to enjoy being a mom.
